UNDERDRIP:
at the roots
of sustainability.

Underdrip

The patented Underdrip system, tested in collaboration with the University of Piacenza and the University of Milan, involves burying drip lines in parallel rows, with GPS mapping of the entire system.

Each drip line is positioned directly beneath the plant’s root system, with a row spacing of 70 cm, enabling precise fertigation with no dispersion or waste.

*Compared to conventional crops, thanks to the benefits of conservation agriculture.

The principles of conservation agriculture involve the use of precision irrigation systems.

The Underdrip precision sub-irrigation system delivers the following benefits:

  • Drip lines buried at variable depths ranging from 15 to 60 cm.
  • Water released slowly into the soil at low pressure, ensuring gradual distribution close to the root system.
  • Roots grow more uniformly and deeper, allowing more efficient use of water and dissolved nutrients.
  • Fields remain unobstructed, with no surface systems or equipment that could interfere with farming operations.

The results achieved through Agrifuture’s experimental trials highlight how all aspects of economic, social, and environmental sustainability are addressed and enhanced.

Underdrip enables efficient use of the solar corridor principle and, thanks to intercropping, allows differentiated fertigation of multiple crops at the same time according to their specific needs—producing more while using less.
